Gulu Independent Hospital is a notorious place to work on the earth. With no effective management and responsible person on the ground one will end up in frustration after working for a short time. This hospital has the reputation of high staff turnover even with a fair salary they provide. Its a family business and foreigners are treated by some elements of management very arrogantly. They can dismiss you overnight with no good reason and they don't need you, your thrown out to bushes of Uganda leaving you alone to find a way to the outer world of civilisation. Gulu itself is small town 370km far from Kampala, famous for the daily 12 -24 hour power cuts, poor drinking water and with a bouquet of deadly diseases among the local people. So before heading to Gulu Independent hospital think not just twice but better many times.

Gulu Independent Hospital is the WORST place to work in!First of all its a family business. This makes it even horrible. This hospital is known for delay in payment of salary, harrasment of staff especially black foreigners,,employment of unqualified white staff who come to experiment on the blacks, high unreasonable prices e.g diclofenac tabs which u would buy from local pharmacys is at ug sh.2000 you end up buying it at ug sh.20,000!!!!!If you are planning to work in this place or to bring your patient here, you are as good as DEAD!

this is the worst organization i have ever heard of!staff complains too much of poor management.as in,the managers are the relatives to the owner of the hospitals, its not bad but managers without papers!!!!this makes it worst...firing and employing should not be in your goals, focus on patients care and staff satisfaction.sad enough ,the community around the hospital doesnt enjoy the services due to over exaggerated price, how then do you win the rest if the nation??wake up and put literate people there to manage ,not the fake whites you keep exchanging and guys from village.....
